1 Corinthians 13

LOVE

                “And now I will show you the most excellent way”

Love is Powerful.

“If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.”

Love is action not a feeling.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with truth.”

Is Patient: Even though life does not make sense or move in our desired direction.

Is Kind: Even though life is unfair to your precious child and your family

Will not Envy: The time in life that you were blissfully unaware of pediatric cancer

Will not be easily angered: REALLY???..... yes really….grace and humility over anger

Will keep no record of wrongs: But life has not been easy. God never promised easy, just that he would walk with us through it.

Will not delight in evil but rejoice with the truth: Even when the truth is hard to accept. Joy like love is an action not a feeling.

-Bottom Line-

We do not always chose what happens to us or our loved ones in this life, but we can chose how we respond. If we respond in true love as scripture describes, our bad situations will still be lined with goodness and grace. Amongst the darkness, we will be given a chance to see His light and experience his blessings like never before.

A friend once said that our hearts are most vulnerable during difficult times, and that is why we must draw near to God because his love “always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

One day everything we have experienced in this life will fade away. “When perfection comes, the imperfect disappears…And now these three Remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
