Dominic Z Campos

Dominic has always been a fun loving happy little boy.  In February of 2020 we noticed a knot, the size of the tip of your pinky, on Dominic’s jaw that was concerning. His doctor prescribed one round of antibiotics. The tumor continued to grow after a second round of antibiotics. An ultrasound that showed nothing led to a third round of antibiotics. Bloodwork showed nothing and by this time Dominic was growing tired and taking naps when he never had before. His pediatrician had us referred to pediatric Hematology and oncology, and Dominic was brought to Levine Children’s Hospital. Scans and bloodwork were inconclusive which led the team to a biopsy.

On March 17, 2020, Dominic was diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma, and for of Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.. The plan was laid out and we would start treatment immediately. Dominic i is strong, funny, loving life, and all the extra attention. He is loving this alone time with his mommy and not much really phases him.

“Day one we were admitted to the hospital and while in clinic still we were given a gift box and it had a stuffed giraffe for Dominic, a pillowcase and a few things I didn’t even think to bring with us. Later once in the hospital room a bag was delivered, and it was full of things that were needful things that I couldn’t even have thought we would need. I was so grateful to have something to smile and be thankful for when everything else seemed to be falling apart. That some one out there would make a fun pillowcase for Dominic so that the room could feel more homely a toy to make him smile and a note pad, coffee cups and nice towels for mommy. It was touching to have some one out there that didn’t know me but felt enough love for me and him to be there for us. I am day dreaming about hearing the sound of that bell ringing.Dominics Mother
